My name is Tiziana Carcagni. I was born in Salento, in southern Italy, and have lived in Lombardy for more than thirty years. My artistic path began with curiosity and a desire to explore. Over time, I worked across different techniques, materials, and surfaces, always searching for the most expressive way to give an image its own voice. Today, I have chosen a distinct direction: oil on canvas, shaped through classical painting techniques. It is the medium that allows me to work with light, nuance, and delicate transitions, while giving each piece the depth and time required to reveal its full character.

My paintings often begin with an inspiration drawn from many sources: a detail, a memory, an encounter, an atmosphere. Among the aspects of my work I value most is the opportunity to create commissioned pieces, especially when they originate from old black-and-white photographs. In these cases, the process begins long before the first brushstroke. It involves research, interpretation, and reconstruction — imagining colors, uncovering forgotten details, and following subtle traces that bring the subject back to life. It is a process I find deeply meaningful, because it transforms a silent image into something vivid, intimate, and enduring.

In every work, I seek more than representation. I seek emotion. My painting is guided by a love of beauty, form, and visual harmony, and by the belief that an image can become a lasting connection — to a person, a place, or a moment in time.
